Cardio (no rope needed) Jump rope youtube class

Here's a GREAT cardio interval to do inside on those cold winter days, or if your kids won't let you leave the house! :)

Make this workout your own, but here is what I do!

I repeat this jump rope video through 2 times, for a total of 15 minutes of cardio.  
THEN I throw in one of my other short strength videos (Like Hecka Hard Hamstrings, or Arms and Obliques)  Then I do 2 more rounds of this cardio jump rope video!

Continue to repeat (in that order) for as much time as you have!  I shoot for 55 to 50 minutes. :)

FIT TRIPPIN: Yes you can eat out at a Mexican restaurant & still eat healthy at FIDELINA'S in Ellensburg WA!

MEXICAN FOOD IS MY FAVORITE!!!!!........ and Italian....and Indian.....well, and Japanse... ooooo oooo AND Polynesian....  OK OK, 
I JUST REALLY LIKE FOOD!!!!

BUT Mexican food is right up there in my top 10!!!! 

For a long time I thought Mexican food equaled unhealthy food ( Que those little wavy lines that represent going back in time to a long lost memory) I can picture myself back in college waiting in line at the TacoBell drive-through at 2:30 in the morning with a $5 bill and a plan..... 5 BEEFY CHEESY BURRITOS PLEASE!!!!! 

I know, you're mouth is watering, right?!?!

Well, before you make a "beeline for the border" and COMPLETELY DESTROY  all the hard work you've put into your exercise and clean eating, go check out FIDELINA'S!!!!

It will give you your Mexican food FIX without all the fat and calories!!!!

There food is AMAZING, FRESH, AUTHENTIC MEXICAN, AND YES.... HEALTHY!!!!! (gasp!)

Fidelina's is located right on main street in Ellensburg, you can't miss it! (mostly because the restaurant is NEON YELLOW!!!!)


They've got everything from a burrito bowl, filled with rice, black beans, tomatoes, onion, cilantro (skip the cheese and sour cream) and your choice of meat, to Grilled Tilapia served with rice, black beans, onion, tomato and avocado!

Though BOTH the options I've listed above are awesome, and would totally fit within a healthy clean meal plan, my MUST TRY picks for Fidelina's are....

For starters, 
YOU HAVE TO GET THE Ceviche Tostada!!!!!   
I get it every time I come.  Sometimes I ask for 2 orders of the stuff and have it for my entree!

It comes with a crisp corn tortilla, (which I do not eat, I give it to my hubby Dan!) covered in prawns, tilapia, onion, tomatoes, cilantro, jalapenos and avocado!   EVERYTHING is so FRESH!!!! Which was a welcome surprise in landlocked Ellensburge!

For your main course I'd suggest either the Carne Asada, which is your choice of grilled steak or chicken served with rice, black beans, onion, tomato and avocado, or the Fajitas with grilled bell pepper, roma tomato and onion served with rice and black beans!

I few little extra tips!  Everything comes with tortillas on the side, (which I  like, because then it's easy for me to NOT EAT THEM!)   Also, I usually skip the rice and either have my Entrees with double servings of black beans or a double serving of Fajita veggies! :)

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER, EAT 1/2 Your ENTREE and save the other 1/2 for another meal!!!!

So, while everyone is munching on there complimentary chips and salsa, you don't have to feel left out, you can nosh on your delicious Ceviche and follow it up with your choice of a clean healthy Mexican Meal!!!!!  ENJOY!

Check out my 2 NEW YOGA CLASSES ON Thursday mornings!!!!



5am is HOT POWER YOGA (room is around 85 degrees)

Power Yoga is definitely an intense workout that will make you sweat. A traditional Ashtanga practice follows the same series of poses and makes you hold each for five breaths before moving through a Vinyasa. Power Yoga classes move with an even faster rhythm. There are very few moments of being in a pose and getting the feeling that it's taking forever. Soon enough, you'll be out and moving on to the next Asana.

Other forms of yoga may be ideal for flexibility and meditation, but in Power Yoga, you lift and hold your entire body's weight constantly. These classes incorporate a serious number of Vinyasas, and they're definitely going to get your entire body into gear. For one, your arms will definitely feel the burn from all those Chaturangas!

6am is HOT RESTORATIVE YOGA (room is around 85 degrees)

Restorative yoga is a very relaxinging, therapeutic style of yoga which utilizes props to make it easier for the body to get into certain poses, and thus, surrender to the pose. Practicing poses using props provides a completely supportive environment for total relaxation. The more your body is supported in the poses the deeper the sense of relaxation. Relaxation is a state in which there is no movement, no effort, and the brain is quiet. Typically, Restorative poses are sustained for ten minutes or for as long as you are comfortable.

Why should I practice Restorative Yoga?

In a chronically stressed state, quality of life and perhaps life itself is at risk. The body's capacity to heal itself can be compromised, inhibiting recovery from injury or illness, or it may create new illness or injury, including high blood pressure, ulcers, back pain, immune dysfunction and depression.

The antidote to stress is relaxation. Restorative yoga focuses on relaxation, renewal, effortlessness and ease. Blankets, bolsters, straps, and other props safely support the body in various postures which allows the body to move towards a state of balance. This practice soothes your nervous system, helps you quiet your mind and invites you to release deeply held tension.

Restorative poses cultivate the habit of attention. The mind should always focus on the breath. When you notice your mind wandering bring it back to the breath. You can also focus on where and how you hold tension. Then use the breath as a tool to release the tension. Breathe to the area of tension and on the exhale release the gripping. During these periods of deep relaxation you will be healed and nurtured from within.

FIT TRIPPIN!!!! Grab a healthy breakfast or lunch at The Lunchbox Cafe in E-burg!

I stopped by 
The Lunchbox Cafe 
yesterday and spoke with the owner, Roz, about her AMAZING homemade and HEALTHY menu!!!!!



Tucked away in a cute little back alley in downtown Ellensburg, The Lunchbox Cafe is a GEM!!!! And the PERFECT place to grab BREAKFAST or LUNCH if you, like me, want to be able to eat out with friends and family, AND STILL EAT CLEAN!!!! :)




1st off, Roz will, not only remember you BY NAME.... BUT SHE MAKES EVERYTHING FROM SCRATCH, USING WHOLE CLEAN LOCAL INGREDIENTS as well!!!!

The Lunch Box will accommodate ANY DIETARY NEED, RESTRICTION, or WANT, all ya have to do is ASK! They have Gluten free, carb free, paleo, and (my favorite) just good old clean healthy whole foods!





My number 1 pick for breakfast is the 
"Green" Blueberry smoothie!  
It includes Spinach, blueberries, and banana.... AND THAT'S IT!!!!   NO ADDED SUGAR OR ANYTHING!!!!! 

If you're needing a little extra healthy fuel for the day, try the 
Breakfast wrap.
  Whole wheat tortilla, rice, black bean, egg avocado, salsa, (just skip the shredded cheese) :)      
When I get this, I just eat 1/2 the wrap and save the other 1/2 for my breakfast tomorrow!!!! PERFECT MEAL #1!!!!!!!

(REMEMBER, EVERYONE... You should be trying to get in 6 small meals a day, so your meals will be smaller, but thats ok, you're eating every 2 or so hours! :)



If you prefer to swing into the Lunch Box for a lunch date YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO TRY THE "BUILD YOUR OWN SALAD MENU!!!!!






You pick your Greens, protein, toppings, veggies, and dressing!!!!  ( I skip the cheese and pick the balsamic dressing!!!!)


Another great option is the 
Vegan sandwich or wrap!  
I always choose either the gluten free bread or the multi grain and, AGAIN, JUST EAT 1/2 the sandwich and save the 2nd half for another meal, either that day or the next!!!!  

The vegan sandwich is chucked full of hummus, avocado, clover sprouts, cucumbers, tomato, red onions and lettuce!!!!!

The Lunch Box is Only open from 7:30 am to 3:30pm Monday-Friday, so head on over for breakfast with the fam, or a lunch date with friends.... BUT GET OVER THERE!!!!

MY "MOMMY'S IN A HURRY" Square jalapeno lime meatballs!


 Sometimes there is such a simple way to make our lives easier that when we here it, it's like.... DUUUUUUHHHHHH!... 
(This is one of those things)

(usually I use a square pan, but mine was dirty today! lol!)

Whenever I'm in a hurry to make my quick healthy meals, I make square meatballs by pressing the meat mixture into a pan and cutting them into squares, instead of spending all that time rolling them into round balls!



You can do this with any of my healthy meatball recipes, but I've given you one of my favorite recipes below!!!!


Eat your 3 meatballs for one of your mini meals during the day, or have them for dinner with a veggie! 

DONE AND DONE!


Square jalapeno lime Turkey Meatballs! 

Ingredients
2 lb ground chicken or turkey (you can use lean ground beef if you like, but it will have a few more calories)
1 jalapeƱo, minced
1/4 cup minced red onion
2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
2 tbsp key lime juice
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
Dash of salt and pepper

Cooking Steps

Spray square baking pan with cooking spray or coat with olive oil. Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Using your hands, mix until thoroughly combined.

Press meat mixture into pan

cover with tinfoil and bake for 20 to 30 minutes

Makes 16 meatballs, so just slice your pan of meat into 16 little squares!!!
*A serving size is 3 meatballs (3 meatballs equals 1 meal!)
Aprox 250 to 300 calories per serving.

If you're on an EM meal plan, this meal is AWESOME to replace ANY one of your 6 meals! :)  In fact, you could eat this for multiple meals a day if you like!!!! :)
